This work is in 2 volumes and the stories described are: "The Ramayana"; "Ancestors of the First King of Lanka"; "The First Kind of Lanka"; "Buddha Kacchayana- the Beautiful Princess"; "Chitra, the Charmer"; "Pandukabhaya"; "The Introduction of Buddhism into Ceylon"; "The Poisoned Mango"; "Kind Elala the Just".In the second volume the stories narrated are: "The King of Kelanie"; "Vihara-Mahadevi"; "Duttu Gemunu"; "Why Prince Sali could not become King"; "Valagamba"; "The Kings Fatal Frolic"; "King Gajabahu and his Giant Neela"; "Sri Sangha-bo"; "King Mahasen; "King Buddhadasa the Great Physician"; "King Dhatusena"; "King Kasyapa; "King Kumaradasa and poet Kalidasa"; "The Faithful Friend"; "Agbo, the Dutiful"; "The Destruction of Anuradhapura; "King Sena II; "King Mihindu V"; "King Vijaya Bahu"; "Adams Peak"; and, "King Parakrama Bahu the great". Volume 1 has 20 illustrations and volume 2 has 27 illustrations. This work is a reprint of the 1910 edition.
